Cindy’s Bio

Hi my name is Cindy and I’m in 10th grade, I’m 15 years old. I’m from Downey, California.  Now here are some things I enjoy doing: watching my favorite shows true blood, family guy, Glee and TMZ. The kind of music I listen to is Jack J. Nevershoutnever rise against mgmt and much more. Another thing is my favorite color is green. I enjoy movies. I really don’t have a favorite movie but I like lots of them.   I have 4 cousins that I live with I have the best mom ever, like EVER.. I just don’t know what ill do without her.

HIV came into my life when I was born. I didn’t know about HIV until I went to the doctor and he explained to my biological mom and me. Years after, my mom and dad died of HIV. Now I live in a foster home with a very beautiful family that treats me like I’m not different from them, but before I lived in this family, I lived with a family that didn’t know about HIV and treated me different.  I needed to eat on different plates and drink out of different cups. They didn’t treat me like if I was part of the family.  It’s hard to say that I have HIV to other people like my friends that ask why I take medication when I go to sleepovers or other places.  Everyday I take 8 pills a day.  This is how it affects my life for the few past years I have been going to Camp Kindle and SPEAK OUT. Both have changed my life and others and I learn more about other people that have HIV/AIDS.

I have been going to Camp Kindle for four years. Some things I like about camp is all the events that happen and to see new people and enjoy the things that they have planned for all of the kids of camp. SPEAK OUT is a very good place to go and talk to other kids about your own personal thing that you can’t tell your friends at school you can talk about how you are affected by HIV/AIDS.

This will be my third year going to Dance Marathon at UCLA. I like meeting new people and dancing with all the Bruins!
